Gastroenterology is the medical specialty that deals with diseases of the digestive system and associated organs, made up of: esophagus, stomach, liver and bile ducts, pancreas, small intestine (duodenum , jejunum, ileum), colon and rectum. The doctor who practices this specialty is called a gastroenterologist or digestive system specialist.
