Interventional cardiology is a subspecialty of cardiology that is dedicated to the exact diagnosis and treatment of the disease and its consequences on the heart, through minimally invasive procedures. In this sense, this type of cardiology uses catheters that are introduced through an artery in the leg or arm to access the heart and perform the therapeutic procedure.
