Pap Smear

It is a test to detect cervical cancer. Cells taken by scraping from the opening of the cervix are examined under a microscope. The cervix is the lowest part of the uterus (womb) that opens into the upper part of the vagina.

The Pap smear is a screening test for cervical cancer. Most cervical cancers can be found early if a woman has routine Pap smears.

Screenings must begin at age 21.
