Hysterectomy
It is surgery to remove a woman's uterus (womb). The uterus is a hollow muscular organ that nourishes the fetus during pregnancy.
During a hysterectomy, you may have part or all of your uterus removed. The fallopian tubes and ovaries may also be removed. The doctor and you will decide the type of procedure. The option will depend on your medical history and the reason for surgery.
